Azin Alizadehasl, MD, FACC, FASE
  • Role: Principal Investigator / Head of Cardio-Oncology Research Center
  • Bio: Dr. Alizadehasl’s research focuses on cardiac imaging and early detection of treatment-related heart damage in cancer patients. She has authored over 380 publications and supervises several ongoing studies in cardiotoxicity and multidisciplinary cancer care.

Dorsa Shirini, MD, MBA
  • Role: Research Fellow & Digital Coordinator
  • Bio: Dorsa joined the Cardio-Oncology Department in 2024, where she co-authors case reports and research with Dr. Alizadehasl and collaborates remotely with Columbia University Medical Center on cardiac imaging projects. Her research interests include cardiovascular imaging and AI applications in cardio-oncology. She also coordinates the department’s website and the Cardio-Oncology Bulletin newsletter.

  • Bio: Dr. Naghavi trained at the Shaheed Rajaei Cardiovascular Institute. Her subspecialty is cardio-oncology, and her research — conducted alongside Dr. Alizadehasl — centers on multimodality cardiac imaging, including recent work on echocardiographic assessment of prosthetic heart valves and cardiac masses.

Hanieh Faraji Azad, MD

  • Bio: Dr. Faraji Azad’s research spans intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography and multimodality cardiac imaging, with published work on mitral valve assessment and chemotherapy-related cardiac complications. She has co-authored several case reports with Dr. Alizadehasl, including studies on cancer therapy-related myocarditis.

Cardiovascular Outcome Definitions and Reporting Quality in Clinical Studies of Liposomal Anthracyclines (Systematic Review)

Description: A methodological systematic review and evidence map examining how cardiovascular outcomes are defined, measured, and reported in clinical studies of liposomal anthracyclines — cardioprotective alternatives often assumed, but inconsistently evaluated, for cardiac safety. The review follows PRISMA-ScR guidelines and will be registered on OSF.

Radiogenomic Prediction Models for Treatment Response and Survival in Ovarian Cancer (Systematic Review)

Description: A systematic review and critical appraisal of radiogenomic prediction models — combining imaging and molecular/genomic data — for predicting treatment response and survival in ovarian cancer, with conditional meta-analysis where model comparability allows. Conducted per PRISMA 2020 and TRIPOD-SRMA standards.

A Novel Multiparametric Echocardiographic Index for Differentiating Cardiac Amyloidosis (AEBI)

Description: A study developing and testing the Amyloid Echocardiographic Burden Index (AEBI) — a new multiparametric index combining routinely acquired, vendor-independent echocardiographic measurements (relative wall thickness, E/e′, and TAPSE) to help distinguish cardiac amyloidosis from other causes of left ventricular hypertrophy, such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and hypertensive heart disease. 

Status: Protocol accepted — cohort execution underway
